I found this course just after having a c-section and it was exactly what I needed. I wanted to rebuild my core in order to improve my posture, which had deteriorated during a painful recovery. It was looking for someone who could guide me gently but confidently, with ample experience helping women in my particular situation. That was Amy! I found the course to be beautifully organized, making it easy to move forward when I was ready and backwards when I needed clarity on certain topics. The videos and images are clear and informative. I watched the videos and read the material while my baby was breastfeeding and then tried out what I had seen while he napped. I highly recommend this course to anyone wishing to feel strong, centered and confident in their body.

As a new mom, I was searching for a way to reconnect with my body after a long, and painful labor. “Returning to Center” was exactly what I was looking for! Amy is extraordinarily knowledgable, gentle and encouraging as she not only explains how and why things adjust during pregnancy and postpartum, her approach to movement and healing was gentle enough for me to commit a routine to. I feel stronger from the inside out, and focusing strength in my core after giving birth was something I thought I’d never achieve. If you’re looking for an online experience to rebuild your postpartum body and feel powerful doing it, PURCHASE THIS COURSE. Amy is an incredible instructor and you will NOT regret spending time with her.

“Amy’s poise and warmth transcend the digital divide! I am mesmerized by her detailed explanations of the deep core. I feel profoundly reassured understanding the natural changes that pregnancy, birthing, and post-partum have created in my body and mind (and spirit, too, when finally shown some attention). I am moving slowly through the program, literally repeating the opening movement sequence. That’s been enough to transform a longtime hip imbalance that causes leg, hip, and back pain.

“The first sequence alone has given me the awareness to adjust the way I sit every time I feed my baby. That subtle shift reverberates throughout my day in better walking, standing, and sleeping, and best of all, I feel hopeful that little by little more ease and strength will come back to my whole body!”

The Returning to Center Course was excellent in so many ways: it was full of useful information, thoroughly prepared and clearly presented by a wise and compassionate instructor. It feels like Amy really understands what she is teaching, and that she has a lot of experience working with postpartum — and all types of — bodies. She seems to have deep and detailed knowledge of the body, its anatomy and its mechanics, which she shares with a kind and enthusiastic tone.
It took me a few trial runs of jumping around from section to section of the course to realize how it is organized and the progressive steps intended by the course’s design. Once I had figured that out, I actually decided to go back to the beginning and progress through each step in order. Although I have been working on my core for years, the course actually provided a wonderful and succinct review of information I had forgotten and I found it helpful when I was then doing the exercises. I loved completing all the steps until the end of a section, then having the “treat” of an audio recording of the whole segment to do all at once, while keeping all that I had learned and the visuals from the preceding steps in mind. After a while, I could do just the audio segments, one at a time or several in a row, depending on the time I had at my disposal. This flexibility was priceless.
My body has never been the same since birthing a baby — and that’s a good thing! In working with Amy for many years and now with the Returning to Center course, I have come to understand, appreciate and respect my body far more than I ever did before my transition into motherhood. Returning to Center is exactly what it’s name suggests: a return to the core strength/center I didn’t realize I had, with the most gentle and loving of guides to get me there. Thank you Amy, Leah and the whole Returning to Center team for creating this course and sharing it with us!

It is difficult to put into words how much Amy and her Returning to Center course has meant to me. I am an actor and a movement professor, so my physical life is wrapped into my livelihood. After having two children in under 2 1/2 years I was left with a great deal of physical and emotional scarring, yet no one with the knowledge and expertise to help me strengthen and heal. I had lovely midwives and a great primary care doctor, but they simply did not know the intricacies of caring for my postpartum body and soul, much beyond vague directives of being patient and gentle with myself and following a healthy diet and exercise regimen. I felt alone and at a loss as to how much of my own work I could model for my students, what was and was not safe, what might worsen my issues, and how I might find a way to reconnect to my body in both my everyday life with my children and in my art. Amy’s course provided the lifeline I was desperate for. I came away with a deep understanding of what my core had undergone during the course of pregnancy and birth, along with real tools to revitalize it. I learned how to diagnose my own diastasis and help the deeper layers of scar tissue dissipate. The exercises have not only eased my post pregnancy chronic back pain and increased my overall strength, but they have also given me back a sense of power and control over my physical and emotional well being. The entire course is delivered with warmth, kindness, and accessibility. There is no sense of overwhelm as I have had in other online courses. It is easy to navigate and jump around, which I found particularly useful as a working mother of two, often squeezing my wellness in whenever and wherever I can. The course is truly a gift; it gives you back yourself.

This course is like nothing else out there. Most online courses and apps for new moms make big promises for recovery but offer only superficial exercises that fail to address the deep physical transformation that has occurred through pregnancy, birth, and sometimes surgery. This course enables moms to grasp the multi-layered changes that have occurred and to realign and strengthen themselves based on their new reality: living in the body of a mother! What I like most about this course is that it assumes mothers are intelligent, curious people who want to understand how their body moves, works, births, and recovers, and then uses this understanding to teach beautiful and powerful movement sequences that transform day to day life.
This course can be done completely at ones own pace, so it’s good for moms of infants, toddlers, and beyond — it can be done in 5 minute chunks or long, luxurious, hour long stretches.

When my daughter, Violet, was 7 months old, I learned of Amy’s new online class, Returning to Center. I was looking to reconnect with my body and generally feel better. This course helped me so much. Amy knows what she’s doing and I feel renewed each time I work with the material.
